maxi-dresses and city life

Sort of a miscellaneous post, but hey, I haven't updated in a while. Working in the city is fun and exhausting. Getting up at 6am and not getting back home till almost 9 at night has only motivated me (even further) to find a paying job & a place in/closer to the city. Yay, adulthood! I talked to Wes Lang on the phone last time I was at Exhibition a and had a starstruck moment...even though it was only on the phone...but still...
Vintage maxi-dresses and chai tea lattes make everything better for now though. Oh, also nyc around twilight is perfect. I watched the sunset from one of the bridges in Central Park with Nick and it was ahhhmazing.

3 Day Weekends

 NYC>Long Island>home.
3 day weekends are the best. Having off Mondays is definitely a nice treat.

Friday: spent the day in the city, tried a coconut crepe cake with rum flakes at Lady M Cake Boutique, which is right next to where I work...don't know if that's a good or bad thing quite yet...
Saturday/Sunday: Long Island for pool/family time! The pool was perfect for the hot weather. S'mores at night and sangria during the day.
Monday: Hudson Hil's for brunch- tried a strawberry and rhubarb pie which was seriously delicious. I've been dying to try anything rhubarb so I was very happy to see the pie on the dessert menu. Afterwards, we explored the Chuang Yen Buddhist Monastery, which has always been a favorite spot. Something about it is so calming and serene- it's a great place to escape to.
AND happy 14th birthday to my sister, Lindsey! (that's what those last set of photos are from)

Favorite Summer Spot

Cold Spring will forever be one of my favorite summer spots. Antique and vintage shops line the sidewalks along with restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. It's right along the Hudson River, overlooking many green mountains. Hudson Hil's is one of my favorite spots to eat in the town. Delicious local and organic food and homemade baked goodies. There's something for everyone in Cold Spring. oooooh and the popsicle place there is amazing- I tried a mango hibiscus one today!

Day One in NYC // Exhibition a

So this is where I'll be working! First day as an intern at Bill Powers and Cynthia Rowley's company, Exhibition a, complete! Not sure if I mentioned this before, but Exhibition a works with top contemporary artists to produce limited edition prints (and merchandise) every week! They've worked with places like Refinery 29 and Jcrew in the past.
The building/office & gallery space where I'm working is beautiful! I love the swirly staircase, the hardwood floors, and the clean open areas. I'm looking forward to what lies ahead. And I'm a fan of these two tees (by Exhibition a). The one on the left was the same image used on Passion Pit's latest album cover. Pretty cool. Both are available on Cynthia Rowley's website.

Summer Pastels

Living in pastels on humid summer days. Also, currently obsessed with this Barr-Co. honeysuckle soap from Anthropologie. I wish more than anything that the company had the same scent in a perfume. It's amazing. Wearing two of my favorite pieces of jewelery in this post- both from Etsy makers that I can't remember the names of. Ooops. I love the details on the ring and the necklace is made out of old bullet shells, providing that edgy feel that I always love. I'm a sucker for a feminine feel tossed in with some masculine pieces like a roughed up pair of leather cowboy boots.

In order of appearance: Fossil bracelet, Nordstrom pastel drop waist dress, and Billy Short Frye boots
