On Scent
Big news,
everyone. I think I've found my scent. After years of floral-y perfumes
by Marc Jacobs, Chloe, and Viktor & Rolf (to name a few), I think
it's safe to say that my scent palette has shifted.
I've moved onto a more unisex scent- woodsy and spicy. At first I fell in love with this one
by Miller et Bertaux. It's called "Oh, ooOoh...Oh" and it's made up of
bitter orange zest, absinthe, cedar, sequoia, dried herbs, leather, wood smoke and musk.
It was perfect and Parisian. But... it was also close to $150, which is
totally and completely a luxury buy and not one that I can afford at
this point. Sad. :(
Yesterday, I found myself in Aesop on Newbury St. and was introduced to their Marrakech Intense Eau de Toilette. I tried it on in store and was given a sample to take. I'm wearing it right now and it's SO darn beautiful.
It's made up of clove, sandalwood, and cardamom. On their website, Aesop describes Marrakech as a "woody oriental blend balanced by fresh floral top and heart notes, with a hint of the animalistic." Of course, all scents sit differently because of body chemistry, and for me, this one is definitely leaning towards the spicy side. I love it so much. It stands at $79, which I think is appropriately priced. THIS IS THE ONE, GUYS!
However, I also want to give a shout-out to this little guy:
This is a perfume oil by MCMC Fragrances. We sell their perfumes + candles where I work so I am familiar with their work and it's really impressive. All small batch and done right in Brooklyn. The one pictured above is a specialty scent (MCMC x MOCIUN) made up of neroli flower, petitgrain, amber, and white musk. Neroli is definitely a unique scent... I think it's one of those things that you'll love or hate when you are first introduced. I happen to love it. This is my second choice, if I ever feel like being very generous and loving to myself...
